Sustainability is a priority at ZGM

The new photovoltaic system delivers about 30% of the energy required

„Global objectives can only be successfully implemented by acting locally.“, Zimmermann-Graeff & Müller (ZGM) is communicating this on its website. Environmental impacts should be avoided or reduced as much as possible. In October 2015, a certified energy management system according to EN ISO 50001:2011 was introduced to optimize the countervailing situation. Thus energy-saving measures are continuously improved.

A further important section could now be completed: the already existing production and storage halls were equipped with a large-scale photovoltaic system. Hans-Josef Esch, Managing Director of Finance, Legal and Internal Organization, is expecting an annual income of about 900,000 kWh per year. "This corresponds to about 30% of our electricity requirements in Zell," says Esch.

The electricity generation prevents 540 tonnes of CO2 emissions. "To compensate these emissions an area of approx. 41 hectares of forest would be necessary.", predicts Robert Wild, employee in the energy and environmental management of ZGM.

In the future ZGM is planning to increase its own consumption share of self-produced energy to around 83%.
